Mina and the Quiet Parade

Mina has a red flag, a wooden spoon and big plans for a courtyard parade. But when the pan starts clanging, her friend Bo covers his ears. Watching from a window is not the same as walking beside a friend. How can they make a parade they both want to join? Mina stops to listen.

INSIDE THIS BOOK

A closer look.

Mina has a red flag, a wooden spoon and big plans for a courtyard parade. But when the pan starts clanging, her friend Bo covers his ears. Watching from a window is not the same as walking beside a friend. How can they make a parade they both want to join?

Mina stops to listen. Bo imagines swishing ribbons and twirling flags, and a handmade blue flower becomes their signal to begin. There is just one more problem: a signal only works when everyone can see it. Together with their neighbors, the children try a different way to get their parade moving.

Mina and the Quiet Parade is a warm, playful picture-book story about friendship, listening and making room for another idea. A clangy beginning, fluttering ribbons and a bubble on a nose bring movement and gentle humor to shared reading. Mina and Bo each help shape what happens next.
