INSIDE THIS BOOK

A closer look.

A small grid is a friendly place to begin. Sudoku Steps for Little Solvers introduces children to number puzzles one clear step at a time, starting with 4x4 grids and moving on to 6x6 grids. The digits are labels, so there are no sums to calculate: the task is to place each digit once in every row, column and thick-outlined box.

Inside are 128 original practice puzzles in four stages of 32. First 4x4 Steps begins with more ready-to-spot moves, followed by More 4x4 Practice. The second half introduces 6x6 grids before offering more involved 6x6 practice. Each puzzle can be completed with the two methods explained in the book: finding the only digit a square can take, and finding the only place a digit can go in a row, column or box.

Eight opening pages introduce the rules and show original step-by-step examples. The 4x4 puzzles use boxes with two rows and two columns; the 6x6 puzzles use boxes with two rows and three columns. Two spacious grids share each practice page, giving little pencils room to work. All 128 complete answers appear in 32 numbered, four-per-page solution pages, with starting digits in bold and added digits in regular type.

The printable retains the 104-page, 8.5 x 11-inch printed-book layout, including its double-sided printing guidance and blank Name line. It is designed for pencil use. Designed for children ages 6-8, it welcomes a grown-up to read instructions aloud or offer a hint whenever one is wanted.

Open the first small grid, take your time and enjoy finding the next certain step.
